All packets of needles have 2 sizes on them (eg 80/12). The first number (80) is the European size which is usually used in Australia, and the second number is the American size (12). These needles are designed to penetrate between the fabric threads rather than through them. They are ideal for all knit fabrics, where laddering can be a problem if the needle cuts a thread, as well as foundation garment and curtain materials. If you notice stitches skipping with a Universal needle switch to a Ball Point needle Available in sizes 70/10, 80/12, 90/14 & in an assorted pack of 70-90. Each pack contains 5 needles. These needles have a knife edge cutting point to punch through the thickness of the leather and makes a hole as it does so. They are also suitable for synthetic leathers. DO NOT USE ON TEXTILES. When embroidering leather it is not advisable to use dense designs or satin stitch because the needle will literally cut out the design. Available in sizes 70/10, 80/12, 90/14, 100/16, 110/18, 120/20 and an assorted pack of 80-100. Each pack contains 5

These needles have been specifically designed to accomodate all the metallic threads being introduced into today's market. With an extra large eye to make threading easier and take heavier thread. This large eye also helps prevent shredding and breaking. They have a large groove to make the stitches with delicate metallic threads with less friction, again to prevent shredding. They are the only needle to use for the new flat metallics like Sulky Sliver and Madeira Jewel threads. Large topstitching needles may look very thick, but are ideal for dense embroidery & touchy threads. Are available in packs of 5 in size 90/14 for topstitching. Topstitching needles are available in sizes 100/16 and 110/18 come in packs of 10 but can be purchased singly. from AUD $5.14/pack of 5

These needles have a very thin tapered shaft with a round point designed for silk, microfibre fabrics like Ultrasuede and for heirloom sewing too. Remember if you are using a size 60/8 needle, use a finer thread. Available in sizes 60/8, 70/10, & 80/12 Eack pack contains 5 needles. AUD $3.64 ($4.00 with GST)

SCHMETZ STRETCH NEEDLES
These needles are thinner, have a special rounded point & are Teflon coated for smooth penetration & to prevent cutting the fine threads in highly elastic synthetic knitwear, lightweight and silk jerseys. The special point tends to go between the threads rather than through them and prevents skipped stitches. If a Ballpoint needle is skipping stitches try a Stretch needle. Available in 75/11 & 90/14. Each pack contains 5 needles. AUD $4.50 ($4.95 with GST)
